Emergency roof repair
Storm damage can leave your home open to the weather, and water is a home’s worst enemy: it causes mold, warps and rots wood, and ruins furniture, appliances and electronics. So we act fast. When you call, we send someone to assess the damage and make a plan to stop it getting worse. In many cases we start by sealing the roof off so water and debris can’t get in, then we restore the roof.
Hail damage
Hail knocks the granules off shingles, dents metal and leaves cracks and holes that lead to leaks you may not notice right away. Hagerstown sometimes sees hailstones the size of golf balls. After a hailstorm, have your roof inspected as soon as you can, and if your insurance covers your roof, tell us when you call.

Wind damage
Powerful winds blow off loose shingles and throw debris at your roof, and the damage is often invisible from the ground or even from the edge of the roof. Left alone it leads to leaks, weakened shingles and UV damage to the underlayment and deck, which shortens the life of the whole roof.
The free storm inspection
If you can see damage on your home or roof from wind or hail, the storm inspection costs nothing. Many homeowners assume there’s no damage because there’s no leak, but storm damage can shorten a roof’s life without being obvious to anyone but a trained eye.
The insurance claim, step by step
The claims process isn’t always simple, and adjusters don’t always see everything. We’ve helped a great many Hagerstown homeowners through it. Your insurer will only work directly with its client, which is you, so it takes some effort on both sides; we walk it with you.
- Assess the damageLook over what you can, then have a roofer assess it properly, because there’s a good chance you won’t catch everything.
- Contact your insurance providerReport the damage and start the claim as soon as you know about it.
- The insurance assessmentYour insurer sends someone to decide whether there is damage and whether your policy covers it. If you think they’ve missed something, get a second opinion from a roofer.
- File the documentationThe paperwork sets out the repairs needed, who is doing them and what they cost.
- Wait for the outcomeYou should hear back in due course. If the decision is delayed, ask your insurer for clarity.
One of our specialists reviews the inspection your adjuster provides and decides whether supplementation is recommended: a negotiation with your insurer to make sure every area of damage is written into the claim. Once that’s done your project begins, and when your home is fully restored we send the completed paperwork to your insurer to ask for any remaining depreciation to be paid.
Three things that help: document everything with photos, act fast, and have a repair team on standby.
Two storm stories
Le’s house
After getting help from another company, the homeowner’s first claim was denied, and a second company inspected the roof and found no damage. Having seen several neighbors get new roofs from Happy Home, they called us. We found hail impact, supported them through the re-inspection, and a full replacement was approved.
Delores’ house
This homeowner had no idea the recent storms had damaged the roof. We inspected it for free, helped with the claim and replaced the roof in full, and the homeowner paid only the deductible.
In their words
The absolute best company I’ve worked with. After my home sustained roof damage from a tornado last year, I took a chance with Happy Home. They were incredibly responsive to every email, message and phone call, but what truly made them outstanding was how they helped me navigate a difficult insurance claim. My insurance provider stonewalled me at every turn, and Happy Home went above and beyond to advocate for me every step of the way. The actual roof replacement was done to perfection: efficient, solid work, and it looks beautiful. Also, kudos to Bill for coming out and doing a temporary patch-up during the inspection. You won't find a better and more trustworthy company.
After dealing with two other companies to repair the storm damage done to the house, and getting the run around from both, I called Happy Home Roofing. I talked to Kim and she set an appointment for Bill to come out. The day of the appointment Bill showed up ready to work and completed the storm damage repair to my utmost satisfaction. I would recommend Bill and Happy Home Roofing to anyone.
We had severe roof damage from a bad storm in April ‘25. I got estimates from three roofing companies. Ryan answered all our questions and made us feel comfortable. We chose Happy Home Roofing and it was definitely the right choice!
Their crew showed up on time, were courteous and worked hard. They finished the job by 4:00 pm. The roof looks amazing. I highly recommend them!

Every policy is different, but the majority of policies in our area cover hail and wind damage to your roof.
Is the storm inspection free?
Yes, if you see visible damage on your home or roof from wind or hail.
Will you help me file an insurance claim?
Yes. We walk you through the claims process and help you speed it up and avoid surprises. It’s always a good idea to work with a roofer who understands the insurance industry.
Will you talk to my insurance company for me?
We help you through the process, but the insurance company only works directly with its client, which is you, so it takes some effort on both ends.
How do the inspection and restoration work?
